The Quilt of Hope
Mary Tatem
Barbour Publishing

Quilts not only warm the body, they help the grieving process, comfort the sick, or bring a grin to the faces of young and old. This devotional guide warms the soul in a similar manner. A collection of brief, heartwarming stories – each of which tells of a way quilts or quilt making has touched someone’s life – make up the devotions in this book likely to appeal most to women, particularly to those who love quilts and/or quilt making.

Many of the stories have a contemporary setting, from battlefield to lonely Western landscape to hospital room and just about everywhere else, but some are set in the days of early settlers.

Each devotion begins with a Scripture selection pertaining to the story and ends with a Scripture focusing on the warmth of hope. In the middle, besides the story itself, is a “Scrap Basket: insert that gives some historical fact about quilts or quilt making. “God’s Pattern” ties the story into the way God takes that experiences of our lives and arranges them into quilt –like patterns. “God’s Word and His mercy blend together to warm hearts and carry us through good times and bad,” the author assures readers.
