Snippet: Setting out on a quest to find her long lost father, Lady Charlisse Bristol is shipwrecked alone on a desert island after a storm hits. Weeks later, rescuers appear on the island, but will the band of pirates be her saviors—or her captors?
Lady Charlisse Bristol was determined to escape her cruel, abusive uncle and find the merchant father her mother had loved so deeply. Boarding a ship bound for the Caribbean where his last known whereabouts were, Charlisse is shipwrecked during the voyage there. Marooned alone on a desert island, months later when near death she is surprised to discover a band of pirates have come ashore.
Captain Edmund Merrick, Christian leader of the band of pirates, is also a spy for the British when they unbelievably encounter the shipwrecked girl on the island where they stopped to careen their ship. When Merrick learns of Charlisse’s search for her father, he is shocked to hear that the man she is attempting to find is none other than the very same pirate, Edward the Terror, that he is trying to capture on the high seas. Can Merrick convince Charlisse that her father doesn’t have her best interests at heart—but that HE, her rescuer and protector, does? Can the pirate who excels at stealing gold steal the lady’s heart also?
Pirates and ships and treasure, oh my! It is a rare author who can take the tale of a Christian pirate and an unbelieving lady and make their story totally plausible. THE REDEMPTION is certainly not your run-of-the-mill ‘Christian girl leads heathen male to faith’ style of inspirational fiction, and I was pleasantly surprised to find a diamond in this treasure chest of a novel. Even though he is now a Christian, Merrick still struggles with things of the flesh, making him that much more a believable character. Having been betrayed and abused by the men in her life, Charlisse finds trusting anyone extremely difficult. Merrick is the kind of realistic hero female readers will be swept away by themselves, wishing they were the heroine needing rescued. M. L. Tyndall has written a fascinating story that rivals Pirates of the Caribbean, and Captain Merrick is giving Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) a run for his money, too! I highly recommend this well-written, high-seas novel that dares anyone to label it as merely just another romance.
