Have you ever seen those online "purity tests"? They're all over the web. When one of Serenity's friends starts passing copies around at school, hilarity and conviction ensue.

At the same time, the health class teacher assigns everyone the job of caring for a chicken egg to simulate caring for a real baby around the clock. While Serenity initially tries to duck the assignment, she suddenly runs into a real crisis of responsibility that is far more serious than a broken egg.

While all this is going on, we also get a little more insight into Serenity's mother and the life she's led. Mom has been mostly just an angry yeller in the background through the first two books, so it's intriguing to find out more about her.

This particular issue involved many more situations that allow for more of the stylized emoting manga art is known for. It definitely points out that this isn't just an American style comic book.

The issues involved this time around are a little more serious, and some implications are made about certain characters that may surprise you. The maturity level needed for reading these books might be edging slightly upward.

Still, it's something that's filling a vital niche in Christian fiction, and I hope to see it continue. Recommended.
