When on impulse Emily Ralston protects an innocent child, she has no idea her actions will tie in with murder or set her in the sights of one of Chicago’s largest crime lords. But when new friend (and possibly more), Stephen Bridger, a Columbian guard in charge of protecting the multitudes attending the Chicago World Fair, tries to help Emily, he finds himself in as much in danger as Emily. Will they be able to unravel the mystery in time to save their lives?

Through the hustle and bustle and excitement of late 1800’s Chicago’s World Fair, the reader is drawn into time and place as Cox weaves a tender love story of page-turning suspense.

I read this book in two days. Not only does Carol Cox spellbind the reader with a love-story, she intersperses God’s love and grace within the pages, making for a delightful read. I’m a fan!
